Take a deep dive on the training topics you love! Join our expert-led workshops online, at-home.

We have a new, flexible, and super-engaging way for you to deepen your knowledge and skills. CATCH Online Workshops are here, and open for enrollment!

Join our expert trainers and your classmates in a private online CATCH Community. Watch pro videos and post your own work, ask questions, get into discussions, go deeper!

Online Workshops are an option for you to enhance your studies as an add-on. You must be enrolled in, or a graduate of, a CATCH course to join the CATCH Community. You can be part of the online workshop community at the same time as any full-length CATCH course, and CATCH graduates can also join and complete online workshops.

You and your classmates will be led by one of our awesome program directors who are known in the industry for their passion, experience, teaching skills, and love of coaching you!

Each workshop is 4-weeks of engaging study and community interactions, with a flexible format that can fit any schedule.

Completion of all assignments will earn you a new certificate for the workshop topic. This certificate will be in addition to any other CATCH credential you are working towards or have already earned.

Service Dog Training Skills, with Veronica Sanchez of Cooperative Paws

Start Date: June 23, 2025

Train with purpose, compassion, and clarity. Service dog training requires more than strong mechanics – it demands empathy, precision, and a deep understanding of how dogs can assist people with disabilities in life-changing ways. In this workshop, you’ll gain practical skills for task training, insights into ethical best practices, and a clearer view of what makes a great service dog team.

Meet Your Guest Instructor:

Veronica Sanchez MEd., CDBC, CPDT-KA is a contributor to the CATCH curriculum who is known for her expertise in service dogs. She developed the Cooperative Paws certificate program which CATCH highly recommends for our graduates and she wrote the book, Service Dog Coaching: A Guide for Pet Dog Trainers. Veronica’s interest in service work is both personal and professional. She has a neurological movement disorder called dystonia and she trained her own dogs as service dogs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore the specialized skills and ethical considerations required to train service dogs that support individuals with disabilities.
  • Learn foundation skills for task training, including targeting, retrieval, alerts, and mobility assistance behaviors.

Low-Stress Handling, Resilience, & More – Get the Magic Touch, with Ferdie Yau

Start Date: July 21, 2025

Develop the skills to build trust, reduce stress, and increase cooperation with dogs – even in sensitive or challenging scenarios. This workshop blends low-stress handling techniques, science-based resilience training, and deep insights into canine behavior to help you develop the “magic touch” with dogs of all personalities.

Meet Your Guest Instructor:

Ferdie Yau (MA, CPDT-KA) is an accomplished pro dog trainer, animal trainer, and wildlife biologist who has been a CATCH Mentor Trainer and leader of our 1-Week Workshops at St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center for the better part of a decade! Ferdie’s experience includes training of dozens of exotic species at the Wildlife Conservation Society, including polar bears, sea lions, and river otters (oh my!). he has also been a featured speaker to a standing-room-only audience at the APDT national conference. Ferdie’s compassionate and multi-disciplinary approach incorporates principles from ethology, psychology, evolutionary biology, and neuroscience.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn low-stress handling techniques that reduce fear, increase comfort, and make everyday procedures easier for dogs and humans alike.
  • Understand how to read canine body language and stress signals in real time to guide your approach moment-to-moment.

Your Dog Behavior Toolbox – Level 1 | Fix Common Problems with Confidence

Start Date: August 18, 2025

Turn everyday struggles into training success stories! If you’ve ever felt frustrated by behavior issues, you’re not alone – and you don’t have to figure it out alone, either. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to improve and resolve common behavior issues using proven, reward-based techniques. Taught by the renowned CATCH Program Directors, our team of professional dog trainers will help you build practical skills and confidence through expert coaching and real case practice.

Learning Objectives:

  • When you’re dealing with barking, jumping, leash pulling, counter surfing, or just general naughtiness and not listening, this workshop gives you the tools to turn things around.
  • Learn step-by-step, science-backed behavior modification techniques.
  • Master management strategies to prevent bad habits from getting worse.
  • Build your confidence in handling tough situations with dogs and clients in the real-world. We’ve been there, we get it!

Speak Dog: Mastering the Art of Canine Body Language, with Catherine Comden

Start Date: September 15, 2025

Learn to speak the language that dogs are using! Dogs are communicating with us, and each other, constantly – but unless you know how to read their subtle signals, it’s easy to miss what they’re really saying. In this powerful workshop, you’ll learn to decode canine body language like a pro and respond with skill and confidence. This course blends science, real-life video analysis, and engaging discussion to help you understand dogs – what they’re feeling, what they need, and how to positively impact their behavior for training success.

Catherine ComdenIn addition to being a pro trainer and behavior counselor, Catherine Comden has been a trainer of hearing alert and service dogs, a breeder of service dogs, and a behavior program manager at a busy, open-admissions shelter. She is also the leading writer of the CATCH Curriculum and leader of the CATCH Community! Catherine has decades of experience “talking dog” on the highest level and she can’t wait to share her tips and tricks with you.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn to accurately identify key signals and understand the meaning behind a dog’s posture, facial expressions, movement, and vocalizations.
  • Build fluency in reading real-time interactions between dogs and people, or dog-to-dog, using video analysis and guided observation techniques.
  • Gain the ability to read a dog’s emotion and intent. Recognize early warning signs of fear, anxiety, and aggression – before behavior escalates.
  • Build confidence in using body language interpretation to make better training decisions and prevent conflict.
  • Connect with fellow learners and Catherine in our private online CATCH Community as you practice “speaking dog” together.

Watch practice videos and then submit your own to showcase what you’re learning and get pro coaching!

Duration: 4 weeks

Live Weekly Group Sessions: 

  • Weekly Live Zoom sessions (approx. 1 hour each) for expert-led discussions and Q&A.
  • Our regular meetups will be recorded and available with closed captioning after the fact. Live attendance is encouraged!

Skill-Building Assignments:

  • Watch pre-recorded video lessons and demos regularly posted by your instructor in the community.
  • Get hands-on practice assignments and submit a video of your own work each week.
  • Give and receive positive feedback and helpful suggestions to enhance your skills!
  • Discuss thought-provoking posts throughout the week to engage and learn with your fellow trainers.
  • Complete all assignments with full participation in the community and earn a new certificate in addition to any CATCH credentials you are currently working on, or have already completed.
  • Put your new skills and confidence to work, making a difference with all the dogs and people you teach!
