“I am looking forward to continuing work with my student, Lindsay!

I’m impressed with her level of education. She knows the science behind what she’s doing, and is familiar with all the “icons” of the industry.  Good job, CATCH. :)”

I’m so excited to let you know that Jane trusted me enough to ask that I co-train her Puppy Primer class. I will also get to go to the Durham Shelter with her to observe how she conducts the evaluations of new shelter dogs. I am super excited that she has offered to give me so much additional experience. Thanks for choosing her as my mentor!”

“I thoroughly enjoyed doing this assignment, as it really exemplified what I love about the CATCH approach. I can’t stress enough that my goal as a dog trainer/handler is to truly understand the basic principles at play when working with a dog, as opposed to just memorizing “bullet points”. This assignment invited me to consider the basic dynamics of interactions in both the canine and human world. What I love about this course is that it stresses this fundamental understanding, rather than memorization and regurgitation. Having a team of pros who have already done this groundwork has been awesome.

I just got back from my first observation with my mentor trainer, Melissa! I got the chance to work with some dogs and it was amazing! This is so fun, I could cry! I’m so happy I found my calling… Blue & Athena are completely OFF their e-collars now and started POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT training 🙂 Big difference! Topanga’s training with me is going GREAT! I love love love it! She’s so smart! She LOVES training sessions. I’m taking my time on this phase because I feel it’s one of the most crucial ones. Thanks for checking in!”

The Canine ConsultantLaura V. – CATCH Certified Mentor Trainer
Carbondale, CO

Laura on mentoring a CATCH student:
“Working with Brandi has been a memorable experience. She seems to have learned all the information a beginning dog trainer needs. I am very impressed with the CATCH program and Brandi seems to have acquired the information and is able to apply it in a practical and humane manner. Brandi’s student dog, Ginger, was a tough choice. Ginger’s owner commented that she’s, “…a different dog.” She is even friendly with the owner’s youngest child in contrast to the relationship they had prior to Brandi’s efforts. Ginger has started to lose weight and, according to her owner, is a much happier dog. Brandi was always on time, appropriately dressed and very professional. Her observations of handler and dog behavior were spot on. She even brought some things to my attention that I might have missed. I am happy to have had the opportunity to work with Brandi and think she is going to be a great ambassador for the CATCH Academy.”

Annie to her mentor: “I just want to follow up with a big THANK YOU for your wisdom, support and encouragement yesterday and throughout the past year. Your knowledge and experience of dogs (and birds!) is incredibly impressive and you have a teaching style that makes learning easy and fun. I’ve learned so much from you, I’ll be drawing on it for a long time to come.”

“Just wanted to introduce you to 10 week old Bella. She is my first start-to-finish client since graduating, although I have been taking over other clients. I have been using my new skills and am finding I have much better communication with Bella’s human than with my training clients in the past. I am giving her not just the information from the current session but the bigger picture of where the new behaviors are going to lead in the future. This seems to encourage them to refine the dog’s new behaviors by doing their homework. We are then ready to lead the new behaviors to the next level at the next session. So very exciting that I am able to see the skills that I have learned from CATCH work so well in a real life setting.

“I have been taking dog training coursework through CATCH since February of this year. I can not say enough great things about the people there and the courses. The school director David even took the time to talk to me and tell me more about the school and his experiences. The student support staff, Rebecca and Kelly are awesome!! Kelly is always available when I need her. I have learned such an abundant amount about dogs and their behaviors. I am enjoying all this learning and I had no idea dogs knew so much! I will continue my course and learn even more over the next few months. Thanks to everyone at CATCH! You guys are the best!”

Rich B., CCDT – Master Class Graduate

Before enrolling in the CATCH program, I completed extensive reviews of a number of dog trainers programs. Having adopted 2 stray adult German Shepherd Dogs that had behavioral issues and having read several dog training books, I was looking for a challenging program that was comprehensive in both the understanding of canine behavior and the methods used to modify undesirable behavior.

The CATCH program definitely meets these objectives. In addition, while the CATCH program provides substantial evidence supporting the recommended approaches, a wide variety of alternative techniques are also covered so that the student gains comprehensive knowledge of the profession.”

I am student at CATCH Canine Trainers Academy and I have had such an amazing experience thus far! The staff is incredibly helpful and the material is extremely well put-together. I am so addicted to learning right now, I wish I didn’t have to go to work so I could just study all the time!

I was led to the CATCH program because I volunteer with a rescue as a Foster Home. In the past two years, I have fostered 13 dogs and I wanted to increase my ability to work with these dogs. In addition, becoming a dog trainer has been on my mind as a career change for several years, but I never found a program that I felt would really get me on the road to my goal. I looked into other online programs and between the curriculum, the reviews of the programs, and the tuition, I did not get a good feeling about them. When I started looking into the CATCH program, I fell in love – I knew this was the program for me! I am super excited and proud to be part of the CATCH Professional Dog Trainer Course and I look forward to my new future thanks to CATCH!
