Featured Student

Our students are the future of dog training and the heart of our school.

That’s why we regularly take a moment to recognize one of our top aspiring trainers here.

Our Featured Student this month is Alicia Corona of Olmsted Falls, Ohio. At the time of this posting, Alicia is studying Phase 8 of the CATCH Master Class, and she is doing an impressive job with her studies!

Kraken is Alicia’s motivation. Not willing to give up on him, she chose to learn to train instead.

A Word from Alicia

My Favorite Recent Study Topics:

My favorite study topics have been learning about not only understanding dog body language but also their vocalizations. I knew I wasn’t crazy when I said I could tell my dogs barks/whines apart! I also enjoyed learning HOW dogs think and learn.

My Favorite Recent Hands-On Activity:

My favorite hands-on activity was mat-targeting with distractions. Not only was training my dog to go to his mat so much fun, but all the creative distractions I could come up with made it even more silly, and he did great.

Formerly a “door dasher,” Kraken now waits patiently to go outside.

How My Studies Have Changed the Way I See Dogs:

My learning experiences so far have made me look at all dogs differently. Now that I can better read body language and compose myself in a way I know dogs like better, I have a better relationship with my dog and with every other dog I meet. I always love getting someone who says “my dog never acts like that around other people” and I know it’s all because I am moving/talking in a way the dog can better understand me and be more comfortable. I have also been able to better teach my kids safety with new dogs because I can explain to them and show them why they should not do certain things to dogs they don’t know.

“Watching his progress makes me so excited I want to help other owners feel this way!”

What I’m Most Excited About:

My learning experience with CATCH has been more then I ever expected. At first I questioned how much I could possibly learn from an online dog training academy that would make me successful, but the amount of information and the way it is taught along with my amazing Mentor Trainer Chris who let me learn so much from her has amazed me. Hillary is my Program Director, and she is always there if i ever have any questions and is so knowledgeable and kind I enjoy talking to her about the subject.

Way to go, Alicia, we’re so proud of you!
