Featured Student

Our students are the future of dog training and the heart of our school.

That’s why we regularly take a moment to recognize one of our top aspiring trainers here.

Our Featured Student this month is Jen Trouble of Newman Lake, WA. At the time of this posting, Jen has just graduated from the Master Class and earned her CCDT certification title!

A Word from Jen

At her ‘dream job’, SpokAnimal, Jen has been organizing routine playgroups for the shelter dogs! She’s building a team by training the shelter’s volunteers in body language and handling, and has been using the methodology from her CATCH Course as well as ‘Dogs Playing for Life’ to bring this vision to life. Great work!

My Favorite Recent Study Topics:

My favorite topic of study was the Body Language. I found it extraordinary to see how dogs are communicating around us all the time. We just have to learn how to watch. It blew my mind. Before CATCH, I thought I spoke dog. I have been working at our local shelter for 6 months now and still find it fascinating to watch all the body gestures that flit across the dogs. I learn new things every day and feel like I finally, truly know my personal dogs on a much stronger level.

My Favorite Recent Hands-On Activity:

I got so much out of shadowing my Mentor. She let me come to her classes and see, first hand, how it is to guide a group of dog owners through the learning process. She showed me how to relate to the dog owners and connect with them no matter what stage they were at with their dogs.

How My Studies Have Changed the Way I See Dogs:

CATCH gave me the unique opportunity to see Positive Based Learning on many different levels and from many different teachers. I feel that the experience left me well rounded and gave me the knowledge to be able to handle the challenges that I face every day in my new career.

What I’m Most Excited About:

I absolutely loved my CATCH program. I decided to do the Masters course with a local Mentor and it was the best decision I could have made. The school was so very supportive and my Mentor was wonderful! There was always someone available to answer my questions or talk out my thoughts to help direct me to a solution. Now, I get to help dogs every day feel understood. I help with adoptions and rescuing dogs every day. Because of the support and curriculum at CATCH, I make a difference for the better and it makes me feel blessed to have my dream job.

Way to go, Jen, we’re so proud of you!
