Our students are the future of dog training and the heart of our school.
That’s why we regularly take a moment to recognize one of our top aspiring trainers here.
Our Featured Student this month is Heather Foster of Cincinnati, Ohio. At the time of this posting, Heather is wrapping up Phase 10 of her Master Class studies and will soon graduate as a CATCH Certified Dog Trainer!
A Word from Heather
My Favorite Recent Study Topics:
My favorite topics to study are behavioral problems, how dogs learn, and obedience training.
My Favorite Recent Hands-On Activity:
My favorite hands on activity has been training both of my boxers. I have rotated them so that they could both learn. It has been an amazing experience, which has bought us even closer.
How My Studies Have Changed the Way I See Dogs:
I’ve always understood dogs as a species but this learning experience has shown me that all dogs are different. They all have different “dog-analities“ (personalities) and we have to approach our training with this in mind. While training both my dogs, I had to figure out what was motivating for each one. I feel as though I understand my own dogs and their behaviors (as well as other dogs) more since I started this experience.
What I’m Most Excited About:
When I began searching for a school to learn dog training, I felt overwhelmed. I knew I had to work full time at my current job and also make time to do my studies. However, I found CATCH and it was perfect for me. The self-paced studying is perfect for someone in my position. My mentor has also been great through my experience in the program. I feel as though I have a great knowledge of dog training now and as though I have been set up to start working with dogs. This program has given me a new path in life. I can’t wait to jump in! It has prepared me for everything I feel I need to be able to begin my career, just as the program promises.
Way to go, Heather, we’re so proud of you!
