Featured Student

Our students are the future of dog training and the heart of our school.

That’s why we regularly take a moment to recognize one of our top aspiring trainers here.

Our Featured Student this month is David Henon of Bushkill, Pennsylvania. At the time of this posting, David is studying Phase 7 of the Master Class, and he is doing an awesome job with his studies!

My Favorite Recent Study Topics:

I have enjoyed all of the topics of study so far, but my favorite is probably what I am on right now, Behavior Problem Solving. The reason being because I love to know why canines behave in a certain manner and the reasons why and how to change that behavior. When I am with clients, I relate it back to the study of human behavior. For example, if we find something pleasurable, we are more likely to repeat the behavior. With both canines and humans this is sometimes on purpose with a good behavior, and other times it teaches us how we need to change something in our dogs’ behavior or our own.

My Favorite Recent Hands-On Activity:

My favorite hands-on activity was spending time with my local mentor. Although I have been teaching classes for sometime I elected to have a local mentor because you can “always teach an old dog new tricks”. There are so many ways of getting the same results in so many different methods that I always love “talking dog” to people that use the same positive reinforcement methodology. It opened my eyes to things that I would not have thought of yet and made sense, and I was able to bring that to my current clients.

David was invited as a guest on Good Morning CT. Way to go, David!

How My Studies Have Changed the Way I See Dogs:

I had studied canine behavior in the past but was looking for more knowledge. I don’t think that I will ever stop learning about them. I am always seeking knowledge. What I have learned so far has been so valuable to me and my clients, and as a direct result made more happy dogs in happy homes and that is my motto and my mission. It has helped me get inside a dog’s head and understand why they do what they do, and then it all makes sense.

What I’m Most Excited About:

I am so happy that I chose CATCH Canine Trainers Academy. I brag about you guys to everyone. You have been so professional from the materials that were sent, to the support of the staff, especially my Program Director, Kelly with all the encouragement and time she has spent with me going over anything I did not understand. You guys even sent me my own shirt and trainers pouch to look the most professional I can, and that means a lot. I wanted a school that I could “bounce” things off of when I was stumped, and I found that in CATCH and I thank you. Woof!

Way to go, David, we’re so proud of you!
